Hey! Have you heard? - PR Writing

As a public relations major, the art of writing a press release and PSAs is a crucial skill to know. I thoroughly enjoy sharing information in a straightforward way that energizes its readers to care about the topics and events that are happening within a company and community.

The examples below are blogs written for my PR writing class in the spring of 2020.

Earth Day is going to be celebrated for a full week at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. From April 18 to 24, guests visiting will be able to experience and celebrate the wonders of planet Earth.

Activities include:

  • Unique Disney character appearances

  • Fun learning opportunities

  • Specialty merchandise including the 2021 conservation pin.

  • Themed food and beverages

  • A new Wilderness Explorer activity to earn an “Earth Day Nature Badge.”

Guests will also be able to see some of the newest animal arrivals at the park. Ranger, the five-month-old white rhino calf may make an appearance on the Kilimanjaro Safaris. A few months ago, Animal Kingdom also welcomed two Masai giraffes into the world that may also be viewable on the safari.

The goal of the week, and all year long at Animal Kingdom, is to showcase the wonders of Earth and educate people on taking care of it. Animal Kingdom will also be turning 23 years old on Earth Day itself, April 22nd.

ACU community comes together for a virtual choir

To bring the ACU community together during the pandemic, ACU Student Productions launched the ACU Virtual Choir. Students, alumni, faculty, and staff lend their voices from all over the world to sing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You”.

Over 500 voices participated and will be included in the video that is to be released on April 10, 2020. The video will be on ACU’s website along with social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Because of the abrupt change due to the coronavirus with everyone working remotely and not on campus, ACU wanted to continue to emphasize the importance of community. ACU President Dr. Phil Schubert said, “it is great to have so many ACU voices coming together at this unprecedented time in our lives.”

The sheet music and practice recordings were posted online where participants recorded and uploaded themselves singing. ACU’s audio and visual team then took all the individual voices and videos and uploaded them together into the mass choir video that will be available to watch next week.
